Hello everyone!
We hope that you had a fantastic weekend and are ready to take on the week. Below are some important announcements to keep in mind. We will continue to post updates every Monday to help keep you informed about everything Recovery Cafe Indy! Reopening - We are beginning phase two of our reopening which starts July 1st. This will allow for a few more people to be in the cafe at a time, as well as a larger in-person gatherings as long as they are outside. We will still be taking everyone's temperature, and only members and those present for new member orientation will be allowed in the space. You will also still be required to wear a mask. We also will continue providing virtual options for Recovery Circles and virtual School for Recovery classes for those not ready to return to our space. Events - Cafe Connection Backyard BBQ, we are so excited to hold an in-person July sober social that will allow for us to have some fun while still being safe. There will be pulled pork as well as other snacks and many games to play so we hope to see you all there! This event will be on July 4th from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM outside of the cafe. Exploring a Labyrinth Series, Lisa Boyles will be leading a School for Recovery series that focuses on learning the healing and relaxation benefits of a labyrinth. There will be three classes held July 10th, 17th, and 24th at 7:00- 8:00 PM on zoom, with each class focusing on a different topic. Be sure to check it out! Annual Breakfast Fundraiser, We have released the new official day for our first annual breakfast fundraiser! We hope to see you all on September 18th at Tinker House for some delicious food as well as heartfelt stories of recovery. Please RSVP on our Facebook page if you plan on attending! We hope to see you at some of our upcoming events as well as back in the cafe this week! If you have any questions, please reach out, we are always so happy to hear from you. While we have been able to remain connected virtually during this time, nothing can replace seeing your smiling faces and feeling your energy in our space. As we return to normal, there will be a few phases of reopening so that we are slowly and safely able to come back together. Please reference the graphic below for information on health and safety measures as well as hours of operation for this first phase of reopening. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out. We want to make sure everyone is comfortable as our space reopens. For the time being, there will be virtual options for our Recovery Circles and School for Recovery classes, so if you don't feel comfortable reentering the space just yet, you are still able to participate from home. We have missed you all and cannot wait to be reconnected once again!
One month ago, we made the difficult (but necessary) decision to temporarily close our doors due to COVID-19. However, ever since March 16th, we have felt the continued love and support from our amazing recovery community from. From 6+ feet away. our virtual supports are up and running with helpful technology made possible by Zoom. We are more than grateful for our staff team who has transitioned all services to a virtual format and continues to share their creativity through these new challenges. But most importantly, we are grateful to our Member Leaders, Core Volunteers, and MEMBERS for their patience, understanding and flexibility during this uncertain time!
Recovery Café Indy will still provide a to-go lunch on both Saturday and Sunday from 9AM-11AM. To ensure the safety and health of both our staff and members, we will be handing out face masks and hand sanitizer will each lunch. Though communication is minimal, we are always excited to see our members during this time! If you are Interested In becoming a new member of Recovery Café Indy, please contact our Program Manager, Camille Anderson at [email protected] for more information. We can't wait to be back in the café space, but for now - please know that we love and miss you all! As promised, we wanted to provide you with an update on our operations. Following the new recommendations of prohibiting groups of 10 or more from gathering, and after consulting with the Recovery Café Network, we will be following their lead which will mean we'll make the following changes:
- Closing our café space as a place for community gatherings. - Shifting our Recovery Circles to a virtual circle with options to Zoom or call in. - Providing sack meals to members for the first hour of our regular open hours Our café managers will be calling all of our members to let them know of these changes today and tomorrow. We so appreciate your patience as we work through these decisions and changes in our operations. Recovery Café Indy will continue to distribute to-go lunches for our members during these times: Wednesday: 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM Saturday: 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM Sunday: 4:00 PM - 5:00PM
We have opened our doors! Recovery Café Indy will be located inside our hosting organization “The Horizon House” at 1033 East Washington Street in Indianapolis, IN 46202.
