Camille Anderson

​Camille is a licensed bachelor's level social worker with a master's degree in Human Service and Nonprofit Management. She received her undergraduate degree from Ball State University and a graduate degree from the University of the Rockies. Camille has over 8 years of field experience in Marion County, which includes programs associated with child welfare, prevention services, youth mentoring, and community outreach. Her experience includes working with various populations including children and families, homeless populations, and those who suffer from mental illness. She is active in the community serving as a committee member on the Prevent Child Abuse Marion County Counsel and a youth step coach with Indy G3 Steppers. Camille has both personal and professional experience that foster her passion for working with vulnerable and at risk populations. Camille stated her passion for serving, empowering, uplifting, and supporting underserved populations lead her to the Recovery Café. She believes that love and support helps to guide us through our journey of recovery; no matter what we are recovering from.

Caroline Durava

Caroline graduated from Butler University with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology in May of 2020. Upon graduation, she has further continued her work with Recovery Café Indy and expand upon her work with We Bloom. Caroline is passionate about community improvement and relationship building. In her role at the Café, she enjoys building connections with interns, volunteers & community partners around Indianapolis. She loves dogs, baking, spending time with friends and family, the movie La La Land, the color yellow, and chickens.

Kevin is one of our Peer Support Specialists and facilitates a weekly Recovery Circle in the café, as well as satellite circles in the community. Kevin also works as a Guest Services Associate at Horizon House, Recovery Café Indy's 'birthplace!'

Michelle forman

Social Work Intern -
​Spring 2021
Michelle was raised in Indianapolis from the age of 7.  Since Michelle was younger, she has always had a passion for helping people find their voice. She finds that we live in a society where those experiencing homelessness, struggling with mental illness, or disability, or those who are simply quirky are often the forgotten people of society. She has always wanted to give these individuals a voice. Michelle graduated from Ivy Tech Community College with a degree in Human Services and is now attending the IUPUI Social Work program. She is a lover of plants, animals, and people.

Tracy has a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Martin University. With over 18 years of experience in working with children and the community. Tracy has several years of experience in management and customer relations. She enjoys meeting new people and networking, as well as art, crafts and design. She finds her passion as a way to express herself through creativity. Tracy's goal is to spread love and positive energy into the universe. Working at Recovery Café Indy gives us the chance to do this in so many ways.

Sam Williams

Sam graduated May of 2019 with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Sam is currently pursuing her Master's of Social Work at IUPUI. She is on track to graduate in the Fall of 2021. After graduation, Sam hopes to work as a school social worker. Sam has a passion for helping others and loves to help others find their passion. In her free time, she can be found creating digital artwork and spending time with her pets, family, and friends!

Brittany graduated from IUPUI in May 2019 with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. She is currently enrolled in the Masters of Social Work program here at IUPUI. She is on track to graduate from the program in August 2021. She has a passion of making the world a better place, while advocating for those in need. She loves to make connections with others, while gaining experience along the way. Brittany loves to spend quality time with her friends and family, and is always up for an adventure.

Robert (rob) Schutt

​​Peer Support Specialist

Rob is a Certified Addictions Peer Recovery Coach-1(CAPRC1), Indiana certified Community Health Worker, and a Certified Recovery Specialist. Rob has been part of Recovery Cafe for over a year. He facilitates weekly circles, provides referrals to resources for our members, and connects with other organizations to share resources. Rob also works with the Marion County Professional Blended Street Outreach (PBSO). He enjoys outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, and canoeing. 
Brianna is a senior at the University of Indianapolis and will be graduating in December of 2020. She is majoring in Communications/Public Relations and will pursue a career in Event Planning. She is passionate about helping others and loves to spend her free time relaxing at home with her dog and pet snakes. Traveling is her favorite hobby and she plans to visit all 50 states in her lifetime.

Carletta is attending IUPUI and is currently enrolled in the BSW program here. She has a passion of making the world a better place, while advocating for those in need. She is a very passionate and hardworking person who hopes to create her own non-profit organization to support the mental status in the homeless community. She loves to make connections with others, while gaining experience along the way. Carletta loves to spend time giving back to others and supporting them through their journeys.

Maddie is a senior at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. She is majoring in Tourism, Hospitality, and Event Management. She is passionate about creating memorable experiences for individuals while creating an environment that enables them to foster interpersonal relationships. Upon graduation in May of 2021, she hopes to continue working in events, with a focus in live entertainment. In her free time, Maddie loves to read and spend time with her family and cats!

Leslie Kelly

Leslie’s interest in mental health emerged in high school when she joined an Explorer Post focused on mental health careers and began volunteering at the former Central State Hospital in Indianapolis. Those early experiences, combined with her passion for social justice issues, led Leslie to Ball State University where she earned a Bachelor in Social Work (BSW) degree in 1982. After a decade of working with low income youth and families Leslie completed her Master of Social Work (MSW) degree at Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis in 1997. In 2015, she was certified as an Offender Workforce Development Specialist through the National Institute of Justice. Leslie’s career has included direct service and program management positions with at-risk populations in a variety of non-profit agencies in Indianapolis. Practice areas have included youth mentoring, child welfare, reentry, and homelessness. Immediately prior to joining the Horizon House staff, Leslie managed a program that provided employment and housing services to sex offenders re-entering the community on parole. Since 2008, Leslie has served as the Director of Programs for Horizon House, a nonprofit, secular day center offering comprehensive day services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Leslie was drawn to Horizon House by the agency’s core value of extending hospitality to every client, and treating each person with dignity and respect.  In addition to basic day services, street outreach, case management, employment and housing services, Horizon House hosts an onsite health center offering integrated medical and mental health care provided by Eskenazi Health/Midtown.  Leslie is responsible for oversight and strategic direction of programming at Horizon House.  Under her leadership, Horizon House programs have reached their highest level of service, professionalism and outcomes, including implementation of one of the largest Homeless Prevention Rapid Rehousing grants in Indianapolis, leadership in the coordination of city-wide street outreach services and the launch of a new housing support project in collaboration with the City of Indianapolis and the Indianapolis Housing Agency (IHA).

Yvette Markey

Yvette is happiest when she's able to uplift and encourage others to strive to become their best self. She is active in her community, providing Advocacy, Mental Health Wellness trainings and tutorials, as well as Empowerment workshops and providing Resources and referrals access to individuals and families. Yvette feels strongly that when one commits to changing their thought process and keeping them stayed on positivity, the result is access to a better, changed life. "Change your mind, you change your life", is her philosophy. She believes that all communities can be transformed for the better when individuals and organizations come together for the moral, common good of one another's best wishes for better. She serves also as Board President of MRCI Inc, is a Team Lead of the faith based Outreach organization, We Care Network both entities focus also on the holistic well being of people in the Communities she serves. Yvette pursued her Education in the Human Services field with special emphasis on Behavioral Health protocol and Mental Health Psychology becoming a Direct Support Professional from Indiana Wesleyan University and Ivy Tech Community College. She is active and practicing as a Certified Cognitive Behavioral Practitioner. (CBP). She also holds certifications as a Public Safety Citizens Advocate (PSCA)receiving this credential via (Indy Public Safety Foundation), Disaster Relief Volunteer Lead (DRV, American Red Cross Central Indiana), as well as an ongoing Bridges to Baccalaureate recipient for Public Health policy and research(IUPUI). Yvette is also founder of the Outreach organizations InTouch Outreach Resource Center and Intouch Outreach Managed Resources.

Spencer Medcalf

Spencer is a person in long term recovery from eating, substance use, and mental health disorders. Spencer became passionate about recovery after his own struggles and now recovery from them. Spencer began his career in March 2018 at a small nonprofit in downtown Indianapolis working with re-entry and criminal justice population. Spencer currently works for IU Health as a Recovery Coach at the Virtual Care Behavioral Health Hub. It is a centralized hub based in Indianapolis that provides Recovery Coaches, Masters level therapist, and psychiatric providers to engage with patients across the state throughout the IU Health system. Spencer is a Certified Addiction Peer Recovery Coach Level 2 (CAPRC2) and a Medication Assisted Treatment Specialist (MATS).  He is also currently pursuing an Associate’s degree in Psychology at Ivy Tech Community College.

Shaneka Pedersen

Shaneka Pedersen, is a Senior Mortgage Loan Originator with Elements Financial. She is from Champaign, IL and has lived in Indianapolis since 2005. Shaneka graduated from DePauw University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish.  She has served as long term board member for a long-standing non-profit on the near westside, serving as Resource Development Chair, Secretary, Treasurer over her 9 year tenure. She hopes to utilize her financial background to help with the financial aspect of recovery our clients face.
 
Shaneka’s interest in Recovery Café is based on familial connections of recovery from homelessness, mental illness and substance abuse. She is thrilled to be a part of the Advisory Committee and is looking forward to becoming more involved with recovery efforts in the Indianapolis area. Shaneka, lives north of downtown and is married with two small children. She enjoys all things Harry Potter, reading, vacationing and enjoying sporting events.

Debbie Satterfield

Debbie Satterfield is an advisory committee member of Recovery Café Indy.  She has been employed with Masters Touch Home Health Services for the last 7 years, and also a person in long term recovery.  Debbie is the founding director of The House of Ruth and Naomi Inc.  This organization assists women’s re-entry from prison back into society.  Debbie has a passion for service where her talents align to the need.  She loves to spend time with my family and friends.

Heather Rodriguez

Heather Rodriguez is the Manager of Recovery Community Development with Indiana Addictions Issues Coalition (IAIC), which consists of engaging with individuals, organizations, and communities throughout the state while assisting with the building of collaborative relationships that support recovery. A primary focus of Heather’s role with IAIC is to develop Recovery Community Organizations (RCO) or Recovery Community Centers (RCC). Heather is also the Project Manager of the Indiana Recovery Network (IRN), a network that seeks to connect individuals and recovery organizations within the state of Indiana to align services, provide supports, and fill in the gaps of recovery services.
